      I replaced both solenoids as my diagnosis procedure, the original solenoids are still good at 235k km. The new ones look exactly the same with the ones on the car.

      I don't have anything to compare this vanos solenoid to because it's my first time changing them, but I'm happy because changing them completely fixed all my engine issues.
